The Toscano little cigars design is unique

Like many other things in the world of gourmet pleasures, the symbol of the Italian tobacco industry – Toscano little cigars were born completely by accident. Legend has it that in the summer of 1815, at a factory in Florence, a whole batch of purchased tobacco, either through an oversight or deliberately, was left in the yard.

Suddenly a downpour started and the tobacco leaves, not hidden in the store, were completely wet. In hot climates, they quickly fermented and, according to the manufacturer, completely deteriorated. Still, the director of the factory did not dare to throw away such an amount of tobacco, and all the leaves were used to make cheap cigars for ordinary people.

Imagine the surprise of the owner of the factory when the entire production sold out almost instantly, and they were bought not only because of the low price, but rather because of the intense smoky-spicy taste, which was much more interesting than the one that was present in the usual lines.

Thus, quite by accident, an important process of preparing tobacco for Italian Toscano little cigars was born – “sourdough”, better known as fermentation. This process now takes 30-50 days and plays a decisive role in the popularity of the brand.

Thus, since 1818, Toscano little cigars have become world classics alongside the wines and cuisine of this Italian region.

Sometimes Kentucky from South America and the Far East are also added for the filler. Traditionally, all tobacco is dried over a fire with smoke, which gives the taste a “smoky”, “smoked” character, oak and beech firewood is used.

After fire drying and fermentation, the tobacco is additionally aged at controlled humidity and temperature from 4 to 12 months. All this gives the consumer a strong, memorable taste and strong character.

As with traditional cigars, special attention is paid to the wrapper of Toscano little cigars. But in this case, not only elasticity, appearance and aroma are of great importance, but also the special strength and flammability of the sheet.

The fact is that the Toscano little cigars design is unique – they consist of only two parts. The torn leaves of the filler are tightly wrapped exclusively in a wrapper leaf. Despite this, it is so strong that, according to the manufacturer, you can cut a cigar with a sharp cutter anywhere, and it will not turn around.
